HSD Nutrition
The Nutrition Department has been focusing on fresh and local more this year than any other year. Since August 2024 we have used over 12,000 pounds of local produce for our students in the lunch program. We have been having try it days to allow students to experience and give feedback on items that we are working on for next year’s menus.

March 3-7 is National School Breakfast Week; this year’s theme is “Clue In To School Breakfast.” We will be trying out some different breakfast items and want students’ opinions on these items.

Reminder — if your child qualifies for free/ reduced meals that does include breakfast. We would love to take care of breakfast for your busy morning routines.

Madison 2-3 Center

There are many fun things happening at Madison 2-3 Center! Our school has been buzzing with energy and excitement in this new year!

Students have been diving into new learning concepts and mastering academic skills. In our classrooms, we continue to implement individualized strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.

Whether it’s using visual aids, interactive activities, or assistive technology, we are ensuring every student has the tools they need to succeed. Teachers and support staff are working closely with families to tailor approaches that best fit each child’s learning style.

GO TIGERS!

Washington 4-5 Center

So far this year in the library at the Washington 4-5 Center, we have been studying different book genres each month. October was Mystery month, November was Fantasy month, December was Humor month, and this month is Biography month. With biography month, we have been spending time on getting to know each other a little bit better and encouraging students to learn about a famous person or hero they may be interested in.

Studying different genres has been encouraging the students to check out different books or series they may not otherwise choose to read.

Some of the most popular books and series this year have been Harry Potter, Dog Man, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Bad Kitty, Dork Diaries, and Baby-
sitters Club.
