MITCHELL - The Miller Rustler and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawk cross country teams participated in the Mitchell Invite, held Saturday at the Pepsi Soccer Complex.

In the girls’ varsity event, Berklee Mills of Platte-Geddes took medal honors with a time of 22:12.11, edging out Londyn Schroeder of Mitchell (22:24.74.

Madeline Nye of Miller finished third with a time of 22:33 and Lainey Goertz of SCW finished sixth with a time of 24:46.81.

The boys’ varsity race featured and excellent race, with first and second separated by less than three seconds and third and fourth separated by less than nine seconds. Silas Holdeman of Mitchell Christian took the top spot with a time of 17:06.01, edging out Hunter Patton (17:09.20).

Luke Mentele of Mitchell Christian finished third with a time of 17:51.90.

Miller’s Pierce Baumberger was the first area runner to finish, coming in fourth with a time of 17:59.84. Isaiah Gorgmaker came in tenth with a time of 19:55.93.

Both teams will next be in action at the Redfield Invite on Thursday.
