Highmore-Harrold 3, James Valley Christian 1
HURON — The Highmore-Harrold Pirates evened their season record at 1-1 Tuesday night, with a 3-1 (25-12, 25-10, 19-25 and 25-11) win over the James Valley Christian Lady Vikings at the JVC gymnasium.

Jada Baloun inked seven kills and had eight aces for the Pirates, who got nine aces and five kills from Addison McDonnell. Brooklyn Baloun had 10 assists, four aces and four kills and also had four digs.

JVC was led by Addison Kleinsasser’s four kills, while Ella Anderson, Nave Gross and Charlee Zajicek each had two kills. Gross added four assists and an ace, while Katlyn Stahl had three assists and an ace.

Eliana Van Scharrel had 15 digs to lead the defense.

JVC, now 0-2, travels to Hitchcock on Thursday to face Hitchcock-Tulare. The Pirates host Lower Brule, also on Thursday night.

Miller 3, Roncalli 1
MILLER — The Miller Rustlers dropped the first set, then came back to win the next three Tuesday night,. downing the Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers in non-conference volleyball action.

Set scores for the Rustlers, were 18-25, 25-22, 25-23 and 25-13.

Paige Werdel had 15 kills and four aces to lead the Rustlers to the win.

Aleah Schlechter added 14 kills and assisted on three blocks, while Oliva Resel handed out 35 assists and had and ace, Jolie Palmer had 22 digs to lead the defense.

The Cavaliers were led by Ava Hanson’s 10 kills and an ace, while McKenna O’Keefe had nine kills.

Maddie Huber handed out 20 assists and had a pair of aces, as Roncalli falls to 1-2.

Miller, now 4-0 on the season, hosts Sully Buttes on Thursday.

Hitchcock-Tulare 3, Redfield 0
TULARE - The Hitchcock-Tulare Lady Patriots, ranked fifth in Class B, opened the season with a 25-23, 25-15, and 25-16 sweep over the Redfield Pheasants Tuesday in Tulare.

Katelyn Schroeder led the Lady Patriots with 12 kills on 17 of 18 hitting while also going 15 of 15 serving with six aces. Lila Johnson had 20 assists on 51 of 54 setting and added six aces on 13 of 17 serving.

The Pheasants were led by Charli Junwirth with five kills on 13 of 16 hitting.

The Lady Patriots swept the JV match.

Hitchcock-Tulare will host James Valley Christian Thursday at Hitchcock while Redfield will host Deuel.
