Babl recognized with DAISY Award at HRMC

Posted

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has announced Chelsie Babl, LPN, as the most recent recipient of the DAISY Award.

Babl works as a nurse in the HRMC Physicians Clinic. She was nominated for the DAISY Award by a colleague who shared, “Chelsie goes above and beyond for her patients at the clinic. Each of her patients adores her and she will do whatever she can to help them out with whatever they need.”

Babl chose to become a nurse to expand the impact she could have on people through nursing.

“I had worked in healthcare long before becoming a nurse as a phlebotomist and a nursing assistant. I just decided I wanted to be able to help people more and to be able to play such an important role in the healthcare system,” said Babl.

Upon receiving the DAISY Award, Babl stated, “I was shocked. I don’t feel that I do anything more than any other nurse, as each and every nurse here goes above and beyond. I am honored to have received this award!”

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care that nurses provide every day.

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died at age 33 of complications from an auto-immune disease to honor his memory and thank nurses who provide exceptional compassion and kindness to patients.

Babl lives in Huron with her husband, Jason, who is the head coach for baseball, and her three children, Hutton, Auden and Creyton. In her free time, her hobbies revolve around her children and husband’s sporting activities.

Babl is the eighth DAISY Award winner at HRMC, with one nurse recognized each quarter. The department and shift of the award winner receives fresh cinnamon rolls to celebrate, as requested by the Barnes family. Nominees for each quarter also receive a pin recognizing their compassion and care. Nominations may be submitted by staff, visitors, providers and patients, with forms available throughout the hospital and online at www.huronregional.org/recognition-awards.
