Huron boys host Sioux Falls Christian, girls travel to Garretson

HURON — The Sioux Falls Christian Chargers played a dominant brand of soccer Tuesday night to shut out the Huron Tigers 7-0 at Tiger Stadium.
The Chargers got started with a goal at the 10 minute mark and didn’t look back, taking a 5-0 lead into half.
Huron coach Leah Branaugh said an inconsistent effort doomed her squad.
“Sioux Falls Christian really brought the intensity tonight and we were off our game for a bulk of the time,” Branaugh observed. “We had periods of good play and periods of bad play. We were down two starters tonight which made a big impact in the game.”
Micah Larson turned away seven shots for the Tigers, now 1-3.
The Chargers took the JV game 3-0. Jaxon Andru saved five.
Girls
GARRETSON — The Huron Tigers girls’ soccer team played its best defensive game of the year thus far, but the Garretson Blue Dragons came away with 1-0 win Tuesday in Garretson.
Baw Law Eh turned away 14 shots in the first half while Naw Soe saved nine in the second half, but Huron was unable to capitalize on any of its seven shots on goal.
In the junior varsity game, Garretson was able to get two past the Tiger goalkeepers for a 2-0 victory. Naw Soe made six saves in the first half and Win Ni denied nine shots in the second half for Huron
Huron falls to 0-4 and is off until Tuesday, when they will travel to Aberdeen Central.
