Golden Eagles sweep Huron soccer teams

ABERDEEN — The Huron Tiger boys’ soccer team dropped a very close 3-2 decision to the Aberdeen Golden Egles Tuesday night, with the home team netting the winning goal in the closing minutes.

“Overall, we had a great game from our boys’ tonight,” said Huron coach Leah Branaugh. “We had one little slip in the 78th minute that cost us the final goal.”

Aberdeen got on the board first in the seventh minute of play and Huron’s Ronaldo Pineda netted the evener in the 21st winner and the teams went to the halftime break tied at 1-1.

Aberdeen forged ahead with a goal midway through the second half, but Aung Myit knotted the score again in the 77th minute.

The late goal dropped Huron’s record to 1-4 on the season.

“We had other chances throughout the game to score,” Branaugh noted, “but we just couldn’t capitalize. Micah Larson had six saves in net for Huron.

The JV game went to Aberdeen, 4-0.

In girls’ action, Aberdeen blanked Huron 10-0. Baw Law Eh made 15 saves in the first half and Wai Wai Lin had nine saves in the second half.

The Golden Eagles won the JV game by the same score. Naw Soe had 12 saves and Kee Ler had eight saves.

Huron is back in action Thursday, as the Tigers host Tea Area at Tiger Stadium, with a the girls’ game set to begin at 4 p.m., followed by the boys’ at 6 p.m.
