HRMC Foundation awards $8,250 in healthcare interest scholarships

HURON — Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the recipients of 21 healthcare interest scholarships, totaling $8,250, according to Levi Kary, executive director.

“Interest scholarships are awarded to encourage area students who may have an interest in health care to start their studies, even if they aren’t ready to make a commitment to return to the community to work,” said Kary.

HRMC Foundation Interest Scholarship Recipients:
Rebecca Bich – who is enrolled in the exercise science program at South Dakota State University.
Mya Boomsma – who is enrolled in the dental hygiene program at North Dakota State College of Science.
Kaiden Caudell – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program at South Dakota State University.
Mason Davis – who is enrolled in the medical biology program at the University of South Dakota.
Emma Decker – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program at South Dakota State University.
Hayley Geyer – who is enrolled in the human biology program at South Dakota State University.
Alexandria Gilbert – who is enrolled in the exercise science program at Southwest Minnesota State University.

Morgan Harrison – who is enrolled in the registered nursing program at Lake Area Technical Institute.
Hamtyn Heinz – who is enrolled in the pre-nursing program at Dakota State University.
Madison Hershman – who is enrolled in the licensed practical nursing program at Southeast Technical Institute.
Payton Kemnitz – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program at Northern State University.
Cambree McNeil – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program at Augustana University
Sike Ma Noke – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program at South Dakota State University.
Jayda Peterson – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in counseling at Norther State University.
Alexis Priest – who is enrolled in the licensed practical nursing program at Lake Area Technical College.
Kelsey Schuchhardt – who is enrolled in the optometry program at South Dakota State University.
Alex Schumacher – who is enrolled in the pre-physical therapy program at Augustana University.
Mya Thielbar – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program at South Dakota State University.
Sergio Torres – who is enrolled in the biology program at the University of South Dakota.
Kaylee Vincent – who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in  nursing program at South Dakota State University.
Kara Wormstadt – who is enrolled in the physical therapy assistant program at Lake Area Technical College

“The HRMC Foundation’s Healthy Huron Scholarship Program provides financial support to help ensure the continuation of quality, dedicated health care staff in the Huron area” explained Kary.

“We sincerely appreciate our dedicated donors who make this scholarship program possible.”

In addition to these Health Care Interest scholarships, the board also awarded ten Commitment scholarships, announced previously, to students from the region who have committed to work in the community after graduation.

The third category of scholarships awarded are Helping Hands Scholarships which were awarded to seven HRMC employees or their family members. These recipients will be announced in the future.
