HURON – The Huron Tigers went 2-2 in the Huron Volleyball Invite, held Saturday at the Huron Arena and Huron Middle School.
Lincoln, Dell Rapids, and Chester each went 4-0 on Saturday.
Huron opened the day with a 25-14 and 25-12 sweep over Sturgis.
Northwestern, ranked third in Class “B” preseason rankings, defeated the Tigers 26-28, 21-25, and 25-17 in the second match of the day for the host.
Huron then fell to Lincoln by a 22-25, 25-17, 25-14 three-set match before sweeping Brookings 25-10 and 25-19 to complete the day.
Multiple teams ranked in the first volleyball rankings of the season played in the invitational. Chester, defending Class “B” champion and top-ranked team in the class, and Class “A” second-ranked Dell Rapids went through the day undefeated.
Northwestern went 3-1. Watertown, ranked fourth in Class “AA” went 2-2.
