Huron tennis falls Tuesday in home match

HURON — A pair of wins in tiebreakers coupled with a few other close matches allowed Vermillion to emerge with a 7-2 victory against Huron in a girls’ tennis matchup on Tuesday at Huron Courts.
The Tanagers recorded wins in five of the six singles matches.
Abby Hanson needed a 7-5 win in a tiebreaker to get past Ann Hoek of Huron 10-9 at No. 3 singles, while Sakarra White-Davis used a 7-5 victory in a tiebreaker to edge Huron’s Madeline Kleinsasser 10-9 in No. 5 singles.
Paw Kler Moo came up short in a 10-8 decision against Vermillion’s Mia Barnett in No. 4 singles.
Claiming the lone win in singles for the Tigers was AnneClaire Rubish at No. 1, where she defeated Saige Jorgensen 10-3.
Vermillion also won two of the three doubles matches.
Amika Barnett and Mya Halverson pulled out a 10-6 win at No. 1 over Rubish and Hoek, while White-Davis and Katie Yoon slipped past Kleinsasser and Idella Meyer, 10-8 at No. 3.
Huron’s No. 2 doubles tea of Say Glay and Mooe recorded a 10-2 win against Hanson and Mia Barnett.
It was the second win of the season for the Tanagers, who are now 2-2. Huron dropped to 7-3.
The Tigers will face Aberdeen Central and Yankton on Saturday in Aberdeen.
