ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Diane Rae Steinmetz, 79, of Englewood, Colorado died Nov. 5, 2023.

She was born Jan. 7, 1944, in Huron, to Dr. Paul and Elizabeth Hansen Tschetter. Diane attended Huron Schools and graduated from Huron High School in 1962. She continued her education at Black Hills State University, but changed vocation goals and graduated from Beauty School in Rapid City.

Diane worked as a beautician in Rapid City, eventually moving to Denver, Colo., where she worked for many years at Fredlee’s Beauty Salon. While working at Fredlee’s she met Kerlin Steinmetz. Kerlin and Diane married in 1968. Kerlin preceded her in death in 2022. While working at Fredlee’s she met several co-workers who became lifelong friends.

Diane was a co-owner with Jerry Lips of “Franks for the Memories,” where one would find some of the best hot dogs and fries in Colorado! Upon selling this business, she opened a day care business which she maintained for over 18 years. She loved caring for the children and kept in contact with many of the families throughout her life.

Diane enjoyed other positions during her work career as having a salon at Porter Hospital, working for DISH Network and Visiting Angels.

Surviving Diane and Kerlin are two children, Shannon of Parker, Colo., and Brandi DeJesus of Chula Vista, Calif., granddaughter, Syrina (R.J), grandsons, Kerlin and Javier, and great-grandson Levi, brother, Dr. Dick Tschetter, Butte, Mont., sister-in-law Barb Tschetter Timperley and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by husband Kerlin, father Dr. Paul Tschetter, mother Elizabeth Hansen Tschetter, brother Don Tschetter, brothers-in-law Lathan Steinmetz and Harry Lordeno, and sisters-in-law Mary Jane Tschetter and Jamie Tschetter.
