Huron 13/14U struggles at tournament

SIOUX FALLS — An offensive shortage hampered Huron 13/14U during the Mid Summer Classic, which concluded Sunday.
DC14 got past huron 14-3 in its opening game, which ended after just four innings on Friday.

Colt Culver and Wessyn Brueggeman each had a hit and a RBI for Huron. Also recording hits were Jimmie Martin and Noah Koops.

Culter handled the pitching duties for Huron, allowing all 13 runs on 13 hits, while striking out four and walking one.

Huron went hitless in a 15-0 loss to Brandon Valley on Saturday.

Brandon Valley scored 11 runs in the second inning.

The pitching duties for Huron were handed by Martin and Sean Janes.

The C2C Cubs recorded 13 hits en route to a 17-1 victory in another game Saturday.

Martin had the lone hit in the game for Huron.

Pitching for Huron were Martin, Janes and Koops.

In the final game Monday, Austin defeated Huron 10-1 in five innings.

Koops led Huron with a pair of hits and a RBI. Also recording hits were Josh Gilbert, Martin and Colin Hogle.

Gilbert turned in a complete game on the mound for Huron, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits, with two strikeouts and a walk.

Huron will travel to face Watertown in a doubleheader today at 5 p.m.
