Huron blanks Bullets in twinbill

BROOKINGS — The Huron 16U Tigers had one of their best performances of the season Saturday in Brookings, sweeping a pair of games against the Brookings Bullets 16U team by scores of 12-0 and 16-0.

Huron jumped on the board right away in the top of the first as Gavin Waldner bunted for a single and then stole second and third before a ground out by Elijah Shreeve brought him home.

Cooper Bischoff then singled and advanced to third base on an error. A double by Anderson Porisch brought him home for an early 2-0 lead.

The Tiger offense exploded for six runs in the second inning and added in a run in the fifth and three more in the sixth for the 12-0 victory.

Oakley Anderson tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Porisch had a double, single, and two walks to lead the Huron offense. Waldner and Bischoff each had a pair of singles and a walk. Waldner added four steals and Bischoff swiped a base as well.

Nolan Stahly walked three times and stole a base. Anderson had a triple and Crayton Siedschlag added a steal.

Huron’s offense jumped out early again in the nightcap. With one out, Shreeve reached on an error, making it to second base. Bischoff then walked, and Porisch singled to right field. An error on the right fielder scored Shreeve and Bischoff and allowed Porisch to reach third.

Porisch scored on a ground out by Stahly.

Waldner tossed four shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Anderson and Porisch each had a pair of singles and a walk. Chase Schuchhardt had a double and a single while Waldner had a pair of singles.

Bischoff had a pair of walks. Tyce Huber had a triple and a walk while Stahly had a single and a walk.

The Tigers will host Sioux Falls Post 15 on Wednesday at Memorial Ballpark, beginning at 5 p.m.
